Note to readers and commentors

I'm sure that by now, many of you are aware of the unfounded accusations against Gov. Palin being circulated by former gubernatorial candidate Andrew Halcro. While I am confident that these accusations will be fully refuted (and are imploding even as I write this), I will be withholding comment until morning in the interest of providing a thorough and detailed response. In the meantime, I will direct you to the official response issued by Gov. Palin and call on Mr. Halcro to stop refusing interview requests from the media.

Now, regarding my comments section, I have a few housekeeping notes as a result of what I have been reading. First, for the time being, anti-Palin comments will be deleted. My first obligation is to my supporters, and I will not allow them to be harassed. This is a campaign site, not an open forum, and there are plenty of other places where you can make your voice heard. To my supporters, I would ask that you also keep your comments tasteful and respectful (i.e. no name calling, mudslinging, etc.). I have no desire to see any brawling in the comments section, and I will delete anything that I find to be overly antagonistic, regardless of who posts it. This is obviously a very sensitive issue, and I must take precautions to insure the integrity of this site.

Please feel to continue discussing how we can support Gov. Palin, and I'll be back in the morning with a full update.

I hope no one was offended by use of the term "turd nugget". We use that around my house in a friendly manor. We also call one another "fart knocker" rather freely. No offense meant.
Sorry if I ired anyone, Adam.

Don't worry about it...I'm not going to hold anything against anyone that was said in the heat of battle. I'll have to remember those two terms, though my own family might not appreciate my using them :-) Can't say I've heard them before, but there are equivalents in my house.

I personally agree with Adam and I think we should all wait and see what develops. So far Halcro has produced no evidence and is refusing interviews. Maybe he's just mad that Sarah "stole his crayons" two years again when she won the election.

As for anyone who comes here to tear down Sarah, please go find another sandbox to play in...we were all having fun here and we like her. In other words, maybe you should find a candidate that you like, develop a blog of your own, and spend your time raising up and promoting someone you believe in. It would be a much more positive and more integrous way to spend your time (and life).

And Dr. Vicki,
I don't think you offended anyone here. I think Adam was referring to any future comments that might be directed towards Mr. Halcro, the State Trooper brother-in-law, or possibly even other bloggers. Actually, I think "turd nugget" and "fart knocker" are somewhat comical and friendly. I'm sure they cause more laughter than tears. I might even see how they go over in my house.

Adam, I hope that my comments were not considered name calling or mudslinging. I am a former Alaskan, a woman and a working senior citizen when living in Wasilla, Alaska by myself. I know how it is there. I just wanted to defend Sarah and let people know that don't live there how it is there.--Grandma C.

"The governor must be aware of the abysmal crime statistics in Alaska. She ran her campaign on a platform of public safety. These statistics are a disgrace. Alaska ranks No. 1 in forcible rape, No. 3 in aggravated assault, 15th in vehicle theft and 22nd in murder and manslaughter."

This is a little off topic, but does anyone here understand this business of oil leases? The dems are trying to push through a so call "use it or lose it" bill that would take away leases from oil companies that aren't using them. They claim there's all kinds of leases out there not being used as why we shouldn't allow drilling on the OCS. There must be a reason they aren't drilling on these leases. Especially now since oil is very high.

Vera, hopefully, the new commissioner will shed new light on the problems and improve the statistics.--Grandma C.

I am a southernor and we love to quote our mommas and grandmas. My grandma always said "tall trees catch much wind." Short of catching America's favorite governor at a Bolshevik rally holding hands with Nancy Pelosi no problem. Criticism is sadly part of the great game of politics.

No-one in particular made me angry or anything. I just figured that I'd post a pre-emptive reminder to ensure that nobody sinks to the level of the anti-Palin people that are coming by.

OT but great quote from Jim Fryar's real libertarian blogsite:

"This election could well be won at the fuel pump, and these guys [Barr/Root] are placing themselves in a great strategic position. If the Republicans want to win this one they have to stop being wishy washy about it, give Sarah Palin the VP slot, and undertake to deregulate."

Another beauty of the Palin pick -- NEUTRALIZE BOBB BARR VOTE!!!

McCain needs to get his ass up to ANWR yesterday and have a look.

It keeps the issue on the front page. This is the best issue the Repubs have.

He lays the groundwork for selecting Palin while not commiting.

If/when he changes his mind on drilling there he has a paper trail of doing research to change his mind so as not to look like a flip-flopper.

He needs to own the issue. The dems are already trying to weasel their way in on it.

Senator McCain, go to ANWR exactly when Obama goes to Europe and Mideast -- next week!

This would add a very favorable -- and exquisitely timed -- perspective and comparison on the meaning of the two trips and their relative effect on the average voter and his/her real concerns.

This both gives the most PR mileage to your trip while detracting/confusing whatever message Obama and his media buddies are trying to send by his trip. A uniquely timed opportunity.

(This SHOULD be obvious, but just in case you've not already planned to do this.)

And you don't even have to expressly name Palin as VP then -- because the message is already given (without you saying a "yes" on it) -- and media speculation would build and build (so you'd also get the benefit of test-flying Palin w/o you ever having to name her quite yet, albeit I'm more than sure she'd more than fly with the public). The only coordination factor is keeping the Alaska legislature vote for the natural gas pipeline on track -- and it seems this would not be a hindrance in any way.

I suggested this a few weeks ago, ted, but I think now the McCain camp might be thinking a trip when Obama is taking his would not get the coverage they would like. It might just get reduced to blurb or look very, "oh, btw, McCain went to ANWR today...".

McCain needs to make a BIG DEAL of going there, and he needs the focus on HIM (and Palin) not on Obama campaigning in Europe. You can see the networks are in the tank for Obama this next week with all 3 anchors going along (ridiculous!)...so better just wait until we have their complete attention.
