Online Victory Party!

Okay, I've had enough of sitting on pins and needles. So, I figure we should do what every other campaign does on "election night": Pat ourselves on the back, blast some loud music, and call it a "victory party".

This song seemed extremely appropriate.

Have a great night everyone. I'll get back on when I hear any news, but right now I have to catch the subway home.

so far its just old Obama rhetoric... slamming bush... saying McCain represents his 3rd term (yawn).

I can't wait for the debates... he will get grilled when he doesnt have a teleprompter in front of him.

Wow. If we got reasonable confirmationRomney and Pawlenty were out, the media would go friggin' bonkers!!! If not them, than who?

If Mac goes out of the box, than he could land anywhere, even Alaska.

Drew said...

Just after Barack Obama announced his party's nomination for president of the United States, I have this CONFIRMED from a source within the McCain campaign.

Neither Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge nor Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty are John McCain's pick for vice president nominee.

This is confirmed by a source within the McCain campaign. I have been told I will not receive any further information on the decision by John McCain until after 11 p.m. ET.

drewm02 said...

Oh, man...if your information is accurate, then it has to be Sarah Palin. There's no other option!

wk4christ said...

Yes, that's right! We can't give up hope on Palin, yet! The facts that (1) no one knows where she is, (2) the McCain-VP appearance tomorrow will be held in a basketball arena---and Palin is a basketball player, and (3) the info drew has been passing strongly indicates a female candidate.

Drew should be updating us in about 24 minutes, maybe a little later.

I really think it's going to be Palin! The thought of that excites me! Palin, unlike Obama, would truly bring "Change We Can Believe In!!!!!!!"

Keep your heads up, everybody! McCain-Palin'08!!!!!

wk4christ said...

I hope and pray it isn't Whitman! She's pro-choice and that would cause a conservative revolt.

We NEED Palin!!!!!!

Mark said...

The cynic in me thinks that Drew is cruel. But, as the old saying goes about thinking otherwise, "wouldn't it be nice?"

Drew, here's a different question for you: How seriously has Palin been considered (whether or not she's the choice)? Why have we never heard of a meeting with McCain (was it all vetting by phone)?

TKD Momma said...

I don't think Drew is playing around here.

Remember, Drudge mentioned, yesterday I think, that scoop on the Veep could be leaked this evening. Makes sense to leak it to the most visible Palin page in the blogosphere, no?

Timing is everything. They don't want this to break too early.

Stay in the fight!

techno said...

check out race 4 2008 under McCain/Pawlenty watch (9)Ray: note that Carly and Meg are listed as cabinet members; that leaves Sarah as the only female (unless he chooses Blackburn); and Drew has already told us that the VP pick will be a FEMALE.

bbrandy2002 said...

hey danheister, I'm in N.KY, I'll follow you up there! J/K too :)

Drew said...

I can confirm McCain has met with Palin on multiple occasions, including a meeting very recently. Although, that does not confirm anything. At least one of those meetings was to discuss "energy policy".

I cannot explain why Palin hasn't been covered more by the media. You have to take into account the McCain campaign has been extremely good on keeping this a private search, even more closely guarded than Obama's VP search. I have been told, as well as hearing from other outlets that McCain made his choice on instinct and deep thinking about where he wants to take the country. He has not talked about who he took into account during this search, and he has played it very close to the chest here, thus, the media has to speculate on who he will choose, hence the disorganized coverage by the media.

danheister said...

bbrandy,

interesting, because I was just going to announce to everyone that I am going to be gone for awhile while I go pick up the girlfriend... who happens to live in Nky (attends NKU actually)... be back soon!

Night Owl said...

Thanks for the update Drew. Any thoughts on when you might hear more?

Erin said...

Couldn't settle in to "Team of Rivals" while waiting for Drew. The Republican convention of 1860 will just have to wait. Thumbed through a children's clothing mag instead. Wouldn't pay those prices for my OWN clothes. Trying to be patient.

So yeah, with the big guns falling, this gets more interesting by the minute! I'm liking McCain more and more as this VP process moves on. He's not pulling a BO and picking...hairplugs because it will help his chances.

Mark said...

Drew, how in the (expletive deleted) did they sneak her around to see McCain without anyone noticing?

And, if he was that quiet about it, where barely a few people knew, then how do you know? Humor the cynic in me on that one . . .

TC Robinson said...

Stacy said...

Palin and McCain could have spoke over the phone and she was here a short time ago for the Governor's convention.

Boltsfan said...

Yomi Mizuhara said...

Hmmmm...something smells fishy.

Mark said...

Yomi . . . sushi (LOL . . . couldn't resist).

Stacy et al . . . I figured phone calls, but Drew suggested multiple meetings with nobody reporting it. It's doable, but the level of secrecy required leads me to ask how Drew knows.

Erin said...

Drew, nothing personal, but without confirmation, we need to firm up what we know. So what DO we know without Drew? From MSM and other confirmed outlets, that is.

Why are we ruling Romney and Pawlenty out? Lieberman and Ridge? I'm a little tired right now, so it's not coming back very quickly.

bbrandy2002 said...

I just posted a question about Palin on foxnews.com strategy room, I will see if they have heard anything or if theyll read my email.

Drew said...

Once again, you do not have to believe me, but I would like to reiterate I am not posting on this blog just because I feel like it.

drewm02 said...

Romney said earlier that he believed he was out of the race. Lieberman had the whole Karl Rove thing, and apparently his chances are either nonexistent or pretty dismal. Pawlenty and Ridge are only out if you entirely believe what(the other) Drew is saying.

I think his information has been accurate so far, so I'm trusting him. But still, he might be telling us what we want to hear. We'll just have to see how the rest of the night goes, and if we don't find anything out, then we'll know tomorrow for sure.

Erin said...

Drew, please don't be insulted. I'm just trying to tabulate the goods we have so far. Of course, we ALL want you to be correct, but it's worth it to separate confirmation from trust. :)

Mark said...

Drew . . . I want to believe you.

O'k, new question: Will there be a leak tonight?

Mayrock said...

Good point, Erin. Kudos.

Shay said...

"I would like to reiterate I am not posting on this blog just because I feel like it."

So...are you posting on other blogs tonight too? If you are the official leak, I'd feel very honored if I were Adam right now!

Night Owl said...

I'll give you this, if Drew's not for real it's a lot of time invested in a hoax.

But it's making the night more interesting! If it weren't for this comment thread I would be doing Bluebook citations and thinking the nominee was Pawlenty for sure.

Mosby2 said...

There is no reason not to believe Drew at this point. Seems it is down to Pawlenty or a female pick.

From the female category, that leaves REALISTICALLY: Fiorina, Whitman, or PALIN.

THat alone makes some very very good odds. It seems we will not find out tonight. Guess we will have to wait until tomorrow. Gotta give McCain and his team credit...well played...well played.

Have to say, Obama went a bit too far in his 'angry' speech attacking McCain.

Can't wait for McCain and Palin to bring to the FAR left ticket of Obama/Biden

Stacy said...

There was a press release some time today on that names Sarah Palin as co-chair of Alaska's statewide leadership team. Any thoughts?

Mark said...

O'k, people, the latest from the Washington Times: http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/aug/28/mccain-nears-vice-presidential-pick/

It looks pretty fresh, says the final five is Romney, Pawlenty, Ridge, Palin, and Lieberman. That's actually on the Wiki page for 2008 republican nominee also (LOL).

If it is Palin, then this would have been one of the most masterfully handled VP vetting processes ever . . . which is why I still harbor some doubts.

jddqr said...

Hi all :) Watching all this is like dissecting an episode of Lost, hehe.

One interesting thing: the information at http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=72717 corroborates Drew's "energy meeting" info.

Erin said...

So here's my thought on Drew's news as it affects the movement. If he is accurate, Palin has the pick. If he's not, it's Pawlenty. McCain would be better served to pick Hillary than Ridge or Lieberman. At least she got 18 million votes.

Ryan Trabuco said...

Sinc it seems like there's a few staying up late -- I might just do it too!

I'm in San Diego, so I end up going to bed after most of the country goes to sleep anyway.

Ted said...

Perhaps one of Drew's purposes (or THE purpose) is for Team McCain to thank Adam Brickley and this site and the posters over the now many months by informing/announcing here first, before anywhere else, that Palin is being named Veep.

That would be very very nice and Adam Brickley deserves much credit for not only informing the public about Palin but for providing what I feel has been important information and feedback to Team McCain.

Just a thought I had -- since Team McCain appears to be doing everything else surrounding this very artfully. Moreover, this site of Adam Brickley's IS NOW part of the Palin story, manifesting the truly unique grassroots nature of Palin support, unique for the draft of a VP probably in the history of the nation.

Good show Adam and a job well done!

jddqr said...

jddqr - true, but Obama's camp wasn't running nearly as tight a ship as the McCain people.

At this point, if it hasn't come out already, i think its pretty safe to say that it's not coming out until McCain himself authorizes the release.

Also - they just said on Fox that McCain did not authorize tonight becuase it would not be right to upstage Obama's night.

Now that the convention is over maybe...

wk4christ said...

Chris----it looks very similar to the McCain-Palin banner that was created. The wording is slightly different with "Reform," instead of "Liberty," but the line with the star is there. Sarah Palin is all about reform, so this may be it! OH MAN!!!!!! Just gotta wait for it to be official! There's also space underneath "McCain" for a name and space for their picture.

tcsdrummerjohn said...

Just on FoxNews...Greta Van Sustren reports Huckabee not showing up to Dayton tommorrow, deducting he is no longer in the running for VP.

So, by her logic, all those showing up tommorrow ARE in the running?

I think Greta Van Susteren has been irrelevant ever since her show was all Natalee Holloway, all the time.

I hope it is Palin, but you guys should know that she is a Pentecostal. I don't think America will elect a "tongue-talker." It's fine with me, but I doubt America is cool with that.

Nothin wrong with Greta Van S, she puts on TV what people want to see -- and she's darn good at it

wk4christ said...

Jordan, I am a charismatic Christian and I do speak in tongues. It doesn't bother me at all that Palin is a Pentecostal. There is nothing wrong with that. The point is that she is a Christian and that's all that matters. She is also pro-life, and that will go just fine with conservative Christians.

Mountain Mama said...

Hi, Night Owl(s)!

The pundits keep saying, "No other politician could pull 85,000 people into a stadium!" I bet Sarah Palin could easily pull in DOUBLE that amount!

Gosh, guys----get the champagne chilled and ready!

Jordan said...

I am an AoG minister... thus a classical Pentecostal. Palin attends an AoG church and the Alaska AoG Superintendent was her youth pastor. Like I said, I'm okay, but America? I hope so, but the dems are ruthless, but you guys already know this, right?

jddqr said...

I'm pretty sure America will adopt a Pentecostal more than a Black Communist.

Chris said...

There was nothing unintelligible about Jerimiah Wright saying US of KKKA or GD America.

Trust me the democrat party does not want to drag Gov. Palin's church into the debate.

wk4christ said...

Yeah, I know. The Democrats had better not go after her for being a Pentecostal. That would be sinking to a new low. If they have to attack her religious beliefs because they can't find anything else good to attack her with.....that's their problem.

By the way, I'm glad she's Pentecostal. I welcome it with open arms! That makes me like her even more!

Marcia said...

darth, neither is bo... just ask george obama

Ted said...

To pass the time awaiting the announcement, why not tune in to the Sarah Palin theme song which will accompany her Veep appearance at the RNC in St. Paul (as sung by Shania Twain):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWNtLt-pJik

bbrandy2002 said...

I'm baptist and I thinks its perfectly fine if she is pentecostal or anyone else for that matter, so personally I think it wouldn't be a problem at all. Atleast I certainly hope it wouldn't.

Jordan said...

I hope you are right Chris, but with the big deal made about Ashcroft's AoG status by the media has got me almost convinced McCain will stay safe... thus away from Palin. Trust me, I hope not. Palin is a God-send. And to all those who think she shouldn't get it because of her being relatively unknown, that's the point. People will have to get to know her and as a result, the focus will be on McCain, not Obama.

Shay said...

I know you really love that song Ted, but it would be a mistake for the RNC to reference her looks at all.
From a woman's perspective, the proper attitude should be "Oh, she's a hottie? I hadn't noticed her beauty, I was too focussed on her intelligence and her principles"

And then leave it to the bloggers to assign her songs about not being just a pretty face.

Darth Gill said...

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool absolute predestinarian (christian). Most people would never agree with me on the things I believe.

However, let me note that George Bush is a methodist - which is not at all different theologically in my opinion than a pentecostal (from which modern-day pentecostalism sprang from in Kansas and of course the Azuza street revival in LA which was instrumental in it's rise to adoption). (free-will theology, dispensationalism, etc..)

Tongues speaking IN MY OPINION (based on research and being a former pentecostal that DID speak in tongues) is just jibber jabber that has no meaning whatsoever (as opposed to the biblical meaning of glossalia (greek) which means LANGUAGES)

Tongues speakers don't threaten me. They're just misinformed as are most people when it comes to matters of "religion" in my opinion.

Palin may or not speak in tongues in private (or in her church) it wouldn't bother me a bit. Those that do "speak in tongues" see it as a form of prayer. It is weird, but so is most religion in my humble opinion!

John Ashcroft was AOG and was elected to two terms as Governor and eventually appointed as Attorney General. I don't think Palin's pentecostalism will be an issue.

Darth Gill, as much as I strongly disagree with your position on tongues, that is beside the point. We are still brothers in Christ. People get involved in their church to varying degrees.

Some nonbelievers would get upset if Palin belonged to ANY church.

Hopefully other Christians aren't going to slam her for being an AOG member. This denominational squabbling grieves God's Holy Spirit.

I hope the person is WRONG who guessed/blogged several hours ago that McCain might have picked Meg Whitman, since he did mention her during the Rick Warren forum. A lot of people are sure ticked at E-Bay; I hope McCain knows that!

Any word from Drudge or ANYONE that the Secret Service has made their move yet? They surrounded Biden's home at about 3 a.m. ET, as I recall.....

We need to find ways to learn where the SS is going!

marcia, paul said he was leaving to pick his girlfriend up.

wk4christ, I wouldn't give you any affirmation that we are "brothers" without talking to you, but yes, I do believe that it is our best interest for all (including non-christian's that desire freedom) to come together in the interest of freedom just as the deists came together with the christians at the formation of this republic.

Night Owl said...

LOL ERIN!

Drew, if you are for real, I hereby suggest you adopt the name Drew-throat.

jddqr said...

guys, save the religion discussion for another forum, please? thanks!

Shay said...

Can we all just agree that Freedom of Religion is one of the greatest things about this country?

Marcia said...

nice, night owl...

wk4christ said...

Darth Gill, yeah, I probably shouldn't have said the "brothers" thing, but I agree! We all need to come together!

McCain-Palin'08!!!!!

Darth Gill said...

Amen Shay! Freedom OF religion - not freedom FROM religion! :D I'm content with where I am and where everyone else is as I have no desire to change anyone!

Ha! Drew Throat. Classic.

3 AM... geeeeeez I don't know if I'm THAT much of a night owl.

Ted @ 9:36 PM -- "Adam Brickley deserves much credit for not only informing the public about Palin but for providing what I feel has been important information and feedback to Team McCain..."

He's worked long and hard and is just waiting out those final hours. No matter what the outcome, he's done a great service to America for showing them Sarah.

And just FYI,I'm sure he's watching and reading every comment here (and all the news everywhere else) and would love to be part of the discussion. Remember he said he lives in a 501C building and can't do anything but watch from home. And unfortunately, it's a bit too late in DC to run over to the nearest McDonald's with WiFi just to comment. But I promise, he's "listening in" on this whole conversation.

Erin said...

night owl, I hear you. As exciting as it is to hit the refresh button once a quarter-minute, I'm ready to pack it in!

"Pawlenty says he still plans to be at the Minnesota State Fair Friday, where he's to do his weekly radio show, and that he has no plans to fly to Ohio, where McCain is expected to announce his choice at a rally in Dayton Friday."

Ray said...

I'm Roman Catholic, so I couldn't care less about that. The majority of Catholics picking Bush over Kerry (or voting against Kerry) could demonstrate that on a larger scale.

As a matter of fact, Non-Catholic Western Christians complaining about other Non-Catholic Western Christians sounds rather silly. I know there are difference, but think of it from a Catholic perspective. It just looks weird. :p

McCain/Palin yard signs now available:

I'm becoming convinced MORE AND MORE that Palin is the selectee!

Marcia said...

adam = drew???

Erin said...

Ted, anybody else have yard signs available?

jddqr said...

Ted, anyone can make CafePress stuff.

Mountain Mama said...

Sorry, Night Owl. On Mountain Time, it was only 1 a.m. when the Sec. Service surrounded Biden's home. It was EERIE, though, to read about it as it unfolded...
How to find out about this re. Palin!?

wk4christ said...

Me too, Darth Gill! Me too!!!!!

Night Owl said...

Didn't Drew say he was in Ohio? I doubt Adam would fabricate his location...

TKD Momma said...

Adam=Drew?? You're kidding, right.

I promise, Adam is NOT Drew!

Mountain Mama,
"I hope the person is WRONG who guessed/blogged several hours ago that McCain might have picked Meg Whitman, since he did mention her during the Rick Warren forum. A lot of people are sure ticked at E-Bay; I hope McCain knows that!"

That was me writing about Whitman, and I agree 100% with what you just posted. It does concern me, and will continue to until tomorrow when we all know the answer (Sarah? YEAH!) and don't have to speculate if Drew is taking us for a ride or is for real.

Truth Seeker said...

From what I just heard from a source, it will be Palin or Romney.

Marcia said...

yes - just stirring the pot. i've been on here all (most of) the afternoon & i need SOME kind of news...

Erin said...

Yeah, there were Mac-Romney signs as well. Cute little pawprint--"lenty" as well.

I think night owl meant Adam didn't make up Drew's IP. Did Adam ever comment on Drew's IP? Can't remember.

Marcia said...

truth seeker - we had a post earlier that rules out romney.

From Anchorage, AK to Middletown, Ohio.

Middletown, Ohio is just to the southwest of Dayton.

TKD Momma said...

For the record,

I have no clue who Drew is or if he's for real. But I do know who Adam is and I know he's for real.
Several others here have been in email contact with him and can verify.

Night Owl said...

Haha plus it's getting late and we are probably all getting a little punchy from clicking refresh approximately every 8 seconds. (Ok, 16 seconds, I refresh Drudge, too.) ;)

Erin said...

A plane owned by Gypsy Two, LLC out of Kirkland, WA? VERY interesting.

wk4christ said...

And that was a Gulfstream IV! That's a small, private jet! I could indeed be her!!!!!!!!

Night Owl said...

What I mean was that the person called Drew claims to be in Ohio, and that I doubted Adam would make up a fake persona to get a message across. ;) No one is doubting that Adam is real lol.

techno said...

could somebody enlighten who is cafepress and your opinion whether the ad for a McCain-Palin yard at $19.99 sign is legitimate. I think if it is this might be the smoking gun.

Marcia said...

erin - i went back to the other post when we started seeking adam and don't see him make a comment after drew started to post. not that it means anything, just answerin' your questions

Snowed In said...

I figured you guys would be looking around johnmccain.com/Images/VP/ and hoping to get lucky with the right jpg file name.

(No, I haven't found any either.)

wk4christ said...

CORRECTION: I was trying to say "It could indeed be her!!!"---TYPO!

wk4christ said...

And Middletown is only 21 miles from Dayton!

Erin said...

Well, wk4christ, you're pentacostal, she's pentacostal; you both have a vested interest in her getting the nomination; maybe you ARE...oh wait, a typo. Nevermind. :p

jddqr said...

Huh, interesting.

This is the photo of the plane: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Gulfstream-Aerospace-G-IV/1310731/M/

Marcia said...

DREW-baby, why have you left us so all alone (with each other). is he laughing at us ??? i feel like eddie murphy in shrek (yes, i have kids) - "i'm all alone, there's no one here beside me..."

Night Owl said...

I think a couple of you have missed your calling and should be private investigators.

Flight schedules? I would never have thought to monitor that, nor would I have known how even if I did think of it.

wk4christ said...

lol, erin!

Ted said...

Perhaps Drew is Drew Zahn of World Net Daily -- See Adam's Guest Blogger Posting from Tuesday, August 19, 2008.

Stacy said...

The flight got in at 10:00 tonight as well. His pick would have to have time to write a speech. Who knows? Going to bed...thanks for the suspense

Erin said...

*takes a moment out of palinmania to note* Wow. Nice bird. :) I'd fly in for the nom on that!

Shay said...

According to the site, the plane arrived 2 hours ago.
Rest well, VP Palin...

(Ok- maybe that's wishful thinking. But it sounds nice! lol)

Mountain Mama said...

I wasn't slamming ya, Jill; just hoping your idea re. Whitman didn't come true! (ack!)

Adam's real; we've emailed for months, and also his Mom.

Drew? Not sure, but I do hope so! He's probably gone to bed; he did write that there would be no further notices from the McCain staff until tomorrow (rats).

BUT, the presence of the Secret Service is a LIVE giveaway.

G4 from ANC to Middletown. That's got to be PalinAir!
