WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I won't post all of the details, as you can get those by tuning to any news channel, but Gov. Palin has ALL of the late buzz this morning. I haven't been able to read all of the hundred of comments left here since I went to bed at midnight, so mega kudos to whoever found that flight from Anchorage to Dayton.

We're almost there. Put the champagne on ice and get ready for a party, we'll know for sure who gets the nod in a few hours (maybe sooner). I'm going to try to get permission to blog from the office today. No guarantees, but I have a hunch I might get it.

ABC News' Kate McCarthy Reports: As vice presidential speculation swirls, Gov. Sarah Palin is watching the fireworks from her home in Wasilla, Alaska.

...

But one person who will not be there: Palin. The Governor's spokesperson, Sharon Leighow, tells ABC News she's going to the State Fair in Anchorage, Alaska.

Great news. Adam you deserve credit for this. I only hope you put some money down on Sarah in Vegas last year when you began this effort.

wk4christ said...

I think the whole thing about her "still being in Alaska" is a ruse by the MSM to dampen enthuasiasm for Palin.

They're really freaking out now! Isn't it great???

Joel said...

I wouldn't pop the champagne yet, people are reporting she is still in Alaska

s.b. said...

Well its a lot harder to fake air traffic control and a secretive plane flying from Alaska to Dayton than for a spokesperson to say Sarah is still in the state.

I'm sure that her spokesperson was asked to say that and the McCain camp is handling this anouncement way better than Obama.

BigRob-68 said...

Cautiously optimistic still!! Mac has pulled off one of the greatest political moves ever to keep the media so in the dark.

s.b. said...

A woman, two teens, and two men flying on a private jet from Anchorage to just outside Dayton then being wisked away in vans. Who else whould that be???

Her spokesperson is doing her job and probably doesn't even know that Sarah is in Dayton alrready.

s.b. said...

Now who would you trust with national security more? A man who releases his Vp pivk at 3 am several hours after the MSM have done so because of leaks, or the master of secrecy and fake outs that McCain has just proven himself to be. You don't grow up with an Admiral for a father and grandfather and spend 5 1/2 years as a POW without being able to keep secrets with military discipline!

Obama is a teenaged joke next to McCain.

s.b. said...

The other way someone can find out, which was never mentioned last night was to find her son, who is supposed to be in the military training. If he has been pulled from his base and his unit, she's the pick. He won't be able to serve overseas now.

Thanks! I'll stay around for a few more minutes, hoping something comes out.

Mountain Mama said...

HEY Y'ALL!

Now, why CAN'T Palin's son serve overseas, if she's our VP? After all, the British princes still serve!

Hmm..... I think we should contact Alaskan radio stations and someone in the Governor's Manse.

Then again, I don't want to blow this secret for McCain, do you?

Rob said...

My father-in-law called me when the news about the Gulfstream broke; I wanted to get here right away to see if y'all knew yet, but circumstances intervened. :| Still, great news; given everything, I don't put any more credence in the report that she's still in Alaska than I put weight on Gov. Pawlenty cancelling his appearances. It could be true, or it could be a smokescreen; the only way we'd actually know she was home is if someone knocked on her door with a TV camera.

Whoever it is, we'll know soon.

Erin said...

AOL says "new name now in mix," and her pic is now the lead one in the list of candidates.

TC Robinson said...

Breaking down the passengers:

Woman - Sarah Palin
Man #1 - Todd Palin
Man #2 - Mike Nizich (her new Chief of Staff)
Teenager #1 - Track Palin
Teenager #2 - Bristol Palin

That makes sense. The other three (minus Trig) are still in school, and Sarah being the great mother she is, wouldn't dare pull those kids out of school.

Sarah's spokesperson Fiday mornaing, and it must have been very early her time, said "as far as she knows" Gov. Palin is still in the state. Since when is national security disclosed to spokes people? As far as she knows doesn't mean much, no disrepect intended just that she wouldn't be told. That's all. Anyways, its almost 7 am Alaska time, if she's not at the office sson, we know!

Yup. CNBC has it. Interesting. Drew, can you comment yet? :)

"By the time this post reaches your email box, John McCain will have made his choice of VP. In fact, he is expected to make that public in a little over 2 hours from now.

One thing is certain…Romney, Pawlenty and Huckabee are definitely out. The remaining choices are Tom Ridge, Joe Lieberman or Sarah Palin. In my estimation, there really is no question here. Ridge and Lieberman are no where near the quality of Gov. Sarah Palin." go to the blog to read more.

I posted this in my blog - View fromt he choir. I'm a Huckabee suporter who could easily "settle" for Palin!

Pawlenty - yawn. How about Palin?

The scuttlebutt for the last couple of days is that John McCain has picked Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as his running mate - a choice I think would be a mistake. (Pro-life, but dull, not popular in his state, the bridge collapse issue that could be thrown in his face.)

But the latest buzz is Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Think of the spark such a choice would provide for the campaign - it would knock Obama out of the headlines.

She's staunchly pro-life and a reformer, young (44), energetic (hunts and fishes, runs marathons), athletic (led her high school basketball team to the state championship), and attractive (even won a beauty contest!). Her husband is a champion snowmobile racer who is part Native American. They have five children, the latest born just this year with Downs Syndrome. Her oldest son is in the Army and will be deployed to Iraq in September. I think this family can match up to the Obamas in the all-important "cute kids/nice-looking family" competition. The son in Iraq would trump Biden's son being deployed.

The only knocks appear to be a couple of ethical probes that actually may be politically motivated by foes trying to hit back at her for some of her actions to out corruption. Even if untrue, the media might focus on that. In addition, she has little experience (a charge the GOP has certainly aimed at Obama), and might be attacked for that. And in choosing a woman, McCain might be accused of pandering or trying to go after the Hillary voters.

We'll know later this morning. Maybe.

[UPDATE: There are news reports that neither Pawlenty nor Romney will be the VP choice, and that a private plane flew from Alaska to Dayton, where McCain is expected to announce his VP choice. Hmmm.]

Night Owl said...

Yeah MSNBC does Obama pass the commander in Chief test? Palin has way more years of executive experience as mayor and govenor than Obama, who has none. As far a foreign policy, Obama hasn't called one meeting of the sub committee he chairs and barely shows up to the senate. All he does is promote himself and give speeches using other peoples words.

Sarah is by far more qualified to be commander in Chief than Obama, by a country mile!

Giving a speach after a free rock concert in Germany doesn't make anyone qualified to be POTUS.

So.. McCain's first "presidential" decision, when he is 72nd and has cancer, is to say she is ready to be a "heartbeat" away from being president?

This will blow the strategic argument that Obama is not experienced... It looks like a copy of the Democrats strategy of giving power to a woman, and that younger leaders are better.. Hmmmm

Incredible. Absolutely incredible. I would have never guessed Palin. Talk about a Dark Horse, who ends up being a breath of fresh air in this campaign.

I just hope Palin, a second year governor, can actually hold a conversation with Joe Biden, whose 36 years of senatorial experience trump McCain's by a decade.

Looking good John MCCAIN. Pro Life, Pro family.. We need her to beat the Marxist ticket. He has taken the Marxist off the news cycle. New energy for the GOP. Gov Palin was busy taking care of State business all week long, The media is pissed.. A lawyer ticket vs a non lawyer ticket... MCCain does not like lawyers

Congratulations once again to everyone who did hard work in making this happen.

ABC news confims it, probably last because they know Sarah as VP is bad news for their golden boy Obama. So sorry to disappoint you ABC.

You can pop that champagne now Adam, if it's not too early where you are. Maybe some sparkling juice until later! Well done. You deserve some real heartfelt congratulations for your hard work.

Glad you joined the excitement Adam's mom. You must be very proud of him. This is so great. FOX talking about this creating excitement. DEFINATELY!!! I've been all excited all morning. Just too cool. Sarah will be great and for those pooh-poohing her - she has more exec experience than Obama and she won't shrink to Biden. She is the perfect choice.

I haven't been more happy in American politics in a LONG TIME. I'm so proud of McCain. I haven't liked him EVER - but if this is any indication of how he will govern - i'm going to be happy! THANK YOU JOHN MCCAIN and SARAH PALIN - NOW LETS WIN!

Matthew said...

YES!!!!!!! Now we're talking! With Sarah onboard, we WILL win this!

I hope they start churning out the McCain-Palin'08 yard signs, web banners, etc.....I WANT SOME NOW!!!!!!

I think it's a good choice. But if she is an amnesty advocate like McCain then America's is still getting screwed by the elite. Maybe McCain isn't a marxist but he is an elitist free trader and that supports communism the world around. It doesn't do anything but hurt America. The CFR still sucks. Corporations running America is not the vision of our founding fathers. McCain is pushing us toward a one world government just a Bush did. In that way he is betraying America. The fact that he said the NAU would never happen under his presidency shows that it is a real plan not some conspiracy theory like That Bush liars said. McCain still wants to import millions of cheap foreign laborers and give them amnesty so they can work in the few factories we have left and PUT AMERICANS OUT OF WORK!!!

Now... if they could get a bitchen logo like the other guys have - which BTW (like it or not) is the most creative and pertinent logo that any campaign has EVER had. -Rich

I'm a pro-life Conservative Republican woman (but not a single issue voter) and was a Romney supporter in the primary. I didn't know how thrilled I'd be for my party to nominate a woman VP because I always assumed it would be a pro-abortion woman. I have tears in my eyes thinking not only did McCain nominate a prolife woman, but the mother of a Downs Syndrome child. It gives me chills. Gotta go make a donation to the campaign!

Josh Painter said...

Adam, I must say well done! You kept your faith in Gov. Palin when I lost mine. I'm glad I found it again before she rose to the top...
