Flying East

Well, I once again find myself posting from an airport. This time, it's Minneapolis-St. Paul International and I'm waiting on a flight to New York City. Obviously, I doubt that I will be posting anything more today, but you can watch me tonight on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report. Check your local listings to find the time.

See you all tonight, and I'll be back on the blog Friday (maybe sooner)

DALLE ELEZIONI D'AMERICA,OGGI NASCE L'ENERGIA POLITICA.-

Please exploit the video clip of Obama wherein he describes Ms Palin something along these lines......"well she is an interesting candidate.... but unfortunately she stands for MORE OF THE SAME." Why did you not hit back hard at this slap in the face? It is on video, so he cannot deny it. This was in response to the journalist's question regarding her candidacy, on CNN just two or three days ago. I saw it four times so it probably ran 40 times.

Adam, I commend your insight in seeing Sarah Palin as the Vice-President since last year. I finally have posted my thoughts on Sarah Palin and John McCain in my journal at Daily Strength. Click Here

Good luck tonight and as one other poster pointed out be careful that you are not the joke of the day.

I could not help but think of Esther while watching the courage and poise displayed by Governor Palin. The words "for such a time as this" came to mind.
I also was amazed at the silence by the CNN pundits after her speech, claiming they were listening to the music. I understood why when they began to speak saying the same talking points that Fox News had said the Obama campaign issued moments before.
I do pray for Sarah and her family that they will have the strength to endure. Refined like silver, tested like gold.

FROM THE ELECTIONS D' AMERICA, TODAY THE POLITICAL ENERGY IS BORN.-

The new political energy? With Sarah Palin.

Strategy - image, do part from always, dall' ancient American project to imprint the will of the crazy the novelty that it is wanted to realize.

In an America that be learned to elect, and therefore to dover choose, soon, the man or the woman that can lead to positive changes, after mediocre years of government, are necessary difficult choices, but above all the man with a large charismatic personality.

The America is democratic that republicana, until yesterday, I do not believe that had proposed men to the presidency with that strong image of that charisma that the man more being able some world should have, and almost has done l' idea, errata, that had not of it.

Or rather I was disappointed and uncertain on the to consider like L' America, the nation plus progress of the world, had not the man holder d' an emphatic and leathery certainty personality that infuocare was able you press them. Surely the lady Clinton would have had plus numbers of the young Obama, nell' to manage the state more being able some world, but the true democracy such é when attributes to the people of to choose freely the man that have political capacity, strategic, but above everything that, in its precedent have demonstrator to be of good customs.

And 'known that the women to the world I am of big superior number to the presence of the man on the land, and the woman was always not to see well in its similar, for all the much appearance that, in this my connection, do not I am to explain, a rival in beauty, in intelligence, like woman essentially.

Done out of the Illary, although the hurricane Obama have given everything of if, I do not believe that this last, can brag experiences and strategic skills is in politics inside that foreign countries, to change the destinies of America and not only for its young age, but because, unfortunately in him I noted "the charlatan" that with the sciorinosa dialectics feared in all the media shapes to enchant the masses, that with The to say and the to do, mine expensive readers, us much é road to travel and a lot sail.

L' America, likely will vote it, but will not go out happy and satisfied, and after the first six months would return to all of the problems that of negative holds.

Then, here to revive in the republican faction, l' political energy, with the clause to the step near the President of America, of a character in contrast to the Mr. king Illary, an attractive presence of woman, with relevant experience, but with the attractive one presence that does not refuse the masses, but approaches to show them all what of attractive and cleaned is able to be near the successive President.

Well the image of a woman of family that can express reliability, feelings and Christian values vital and on which expresses the multitude.

A choice beauty of McCain, above all because in the identification of the attractive one, of the agreeable one, of the values, make revive a new hope in the Americans, but dictating, above all, the outlines of the new energy strumental- politics.-

Frank: Thank you and all the Democrats for McCain for exemplifying what "Country First" really means in this election!

I suggest you also go to some of the conservative sites that have blogs and comments sections. Here are a couple of examples:

http://townhall.com/columnists/
http://www.humanevents.com/index.php

See what some of the (lib troll) posters are saying and respond to them. There are many who say that McCain/Palin cannot possibly have any appeal to Democrats, that McCain's vp pick "panders" to women. You get the picture - blah, blah, blah, yada, yada.

Go prove 'em absolutely wrong.

First of all I am a strong Sarah Palin supporter. Over the last 6 days many people have tried to make the point that McCain chose Sarah because she was a fellow 'maverick' or what he called a 'soulmate.' Now I am not implying that John did not admire or respect Sarah before last Thursday (Aug 28)or did not appreciate her talents of governing which we all know that she has. However, let's get real. This decision was forged from the decision Barack Obama made to choose Joe Biden as his running mate, and not even vetting Hillary Clinton. By alientating the millions of women that voted for Hillary, Barack gave John an opportunity to win the election. But it was only an opportunity. John knew that he had to, as a general manager of any sporting team attempts to do, improve his energy level in choosing a VP (in political terms-increased intensity, enthusiasm and the ability to attract a lot more voters, especially the Hillary working-class women.)To do that he had to find somebody with a high energy level and younger, who had an ability to increase the intensity of the campaign--a game-changer--who had the personality, charisma and speech-making to attract millions of more female voters and more voters overall. But above all he had to find a WOMAN who possessed these qualities. In sporting terms we're talking about finding a diamond in the rough, a first round draft choice under the age of 50, a Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky or a Michael Jordan--and they're not easy to find. Remember in politics most women are over 50 and quite frankly do not possess these 'rock-star' attributes (KBH, Feinstein, Pelosi etc). Fortunately he had vetted Sarah, but I don't really believe she was seriously on his radar (did not know her well, lack of experience, Alaska only 3 electoral votes) until Obama's selection of Biden and being told that Lieberman would not fly with the base (which I know contradicts the woman angle. But I think John was conflicted-he knew he had to pick an off-the-wall candidate but pundits consistently have commented that he highly prized the 'comfort' factor which may have overridden the female angle.). To turn to Sarah he had to sacrifice the comfort factor and the certainty of performance and risk the criticism of his party, political pundits and historians. What he relied on was the vetting, her political reputation, tapes of her speeches, the impression he was left with when he met her once 6 months ago in Washington and very importantly the contents of this blog and other blogs devoted to Sarah that allowed Sarah to poll so high in the VP polls conducted about 1-2 weeks before the VP decision would be made. He knew she was young, popular and charimatic and again a WOMAN. I know he and the Republicans will deny this but we all know the truth. They also will deny that they were not concerned about her 'experience' but John had to make a tradeoff--lose the election with a boring white Republican guy with experience who would lose him the election or go with a woman with less seasoning, groom her and allow the intelligence of Sarah to pick things up along the way. Some pundits and critics call this politically reckless and cynical; I call it practical and realistic. John needed her to win the election or at least have a chance to win and that's my folks is the bottom line. Sarah fit the profile. As we know from news reports virtually all of McCain's advisors were against this pick. In spite of this John with political acumen knew he had to take a chance and hope and pray Sarah would perform on the national stage. On Sept 3 she gave a speech regarded by many as one of the greatest American convention speeches in the last 25 years. The CBS poll today now shows Obama and McCain tied (previously a 8 point Obama spread) and finally Rush Limbaugh now calls John McCain John McBrilliant. McCain has changed American political history with one remarkable decision while Obama, with his frostiness towards Hillary, may have condemned the Democrats to the wilderness for the next generation. Yes, Virginia, miracles still happen.

Re: The CBS poll today now shows Obama and McCain tied (previously a 8 point Obama spread)

Wow! That is soooooo awesome! We're gonna win this! Sarah Palin is one of the best VP picks in history!

I've heard that more and more Americans are liking her more! This is great! I am so thrilled about this campaign!

We've just gotta keep praying for McCain & Palin, that they will both continually stand strong. We've got the winning ticket! YES!!!!!!

SARAH!!!!!! SARAH!!!!! SARAH!!!!

McCain-Palin'08!!!!

Yowza, Techno: great analysis, one with which I completely agree, frankly.

McCain did say, however, that he was very impressed when he met her in February----which probably is true; everyone ELSE has always been impressed when meeting her!----and he has watched her reform efforts, as have most Republicans, with amazement, knowing just how tough it is to overcome entrenched corruption. I believe him, too.

Everything, in other words, worked together to help McCain finally get real and forget all about picking Yawn Ridge/or/Pawlenty or 'Way-risky-Independent Lieberman. Finally, he did the right thing and picked PALIN.

Now the Dems are running scared, even though secretly they're very impressed by her poise and intelligence, not to mention her beauty----and they will stop at NOTHING to bring her down----NOTHING!

I appeal to everyone: keep praying. We must also keep writing and blogging and speaking to our loved ones and co-workers about her----but ALWAYS remember that PRAYER works miracles.

She is going to need many miracles in order to withstand everything they'll be throwing at her.
But God can do it!

Just read in the Anchorage Daily news an e-mail sent around by an Anne Kilkenny of Wasilla, viciously attacking Sarah. If you think she is hated by the left-wing lower 48 crazies, the venom of some of her fellow Alaskans equals that. A prophet is often not recognized by his home town.

Erin said...

techno, I admire the thoughts behind your post, and I agree in part with you. I don't believe Sarah would be on the ticket if Hillary and Obama ran together. So I think that her gender DID play a part. However, I personally feel that she was on the short list with Bobby Jindal, and that it would have been one or the other depending on the 'H' factor.

Who else could deliver the bang that Sarah's choice did? Romney? Pawlenty? Lieberman or Ridge? None of them! I've said before and will continue to believe that McCain would have been better served to put Hillary on his ticket over the latter two. At least she'd bring a decent voting block to go along with the conservatives who would stick around, because Joe and Tom would isolate as many of us as she would.

So I don't believe ANY of the big names were really a consideration. If they were, I hope we never find out. It won't help, might hurt.

How did it feel getting roasted by Colbert? Still living at home with Mommy?

Still think a woman who's governed a city of 9000 people for less than two years is ready to lead over 300 million Americans when McCain croaks?

PS...you got punked like a bitch on Colbert.

I don't think most people care that 16 year old Bristol got pregnant. I and most people support her choice to have the baby.

What people want if for the Governor to address the fact that she supports abstinence only education and how that didn't work (a fact that has been known for decades) and if the pregnancy makes her at least reconsider the position.

Congrats on your baby Bristol

Adam,

Good job on the Colbert Report. As I watched Colbert bring you and your blog up, and then announce that you were on the set with him, I thought to myself, Colbert is going to skin this guy alive. But good job on handling yourself, and going with the flow along with promoting your blog and yourself. You did get a little "roasted" with the Mom's house comment, but it could have been much worse.

Keep supporting Palin, she has definitely been a great pick!

Hey, nice job on Colbert Report. Must have been pretty overwhelming. But I was impressed at the way you handled it!

Btw, I don't agree with Sarah Palin's stand on any issues. In fact, I find it baffling that someone so young like you can have positions so far to the right. Its the right wing in the Islamic countries that is the cause of so much trouble in the world. Why would America want to keep pushing further to the right by electing Palin?
