Now this is cool!
Fred Barnes of the Weekly Standard devoted his entire column in this weeks issue to heaping praise on Sarah Palin. (Click here to read) Referring to her as "the GOP's newest star", Barnes did everything except come right out and say that the woman should be drafted for national office ASAP (though I kind of got that vibe from his subtext).
Here's my favorite passage, I think it illustrates in very blunt terms why Palin could be a major force on the national scene: "In the roughly three years since she quit as the state's chief regulator of the oil industry, Palin has crushed the Republican hierarchy (virtually all male) and nearly every other foe or critic. Political analysts in Alaska refer to the 'body count' of Palin's rivals." Yes, the analogy is a little morbid, but the point is a good one. Standing in Sarah Palin's way is political suicide, and you'll have to forgive me for wishing that fate on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

A person as intelligent as Gov. Palin should do everything she can to distance herself from Worldnetdaily.com to run for national office (which at the end of the day means she'd have to resign her state office).
According to Wikipedia, Worldnetdaily.com is the radical rightwing online news site which has published some wierd articles, such as:
-On September 13, 2001, WND published a commentary by Anthony C. LoBaido regarding the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington two days earlier. In his column, LoBaido outlined what he regarded as the moral depravity of America in general and New York in particular, asking whether "God (has) raised up Shiite Islam as a sword against America."
-In 2004, WND published a commentary by James Sanders entitled "The Downing of United Airlines Flight 93" which proposed that, to defend Washington D.C., Flight 93 had been intercepted and shot with a missile by a military aircraft. It also alleged that the government had tried to cover up this information.
-WorldNetDaily published an editorial in December 2006 written by Jim Rutz of "Megashift Ministries" where he claimed that eating soy at a young age increases the chance that a child will be gay.
In other words, Worldnetdaily.com is exactly the kind of publication that you would want to endorse your political opponents.
Also, she's been governor for less than a year. Let her finish her term, instead of trying to make her part of an Republican kamikaze mission to keep the White House. Even Rove knows that's not in the cards.
People like Romney and Giuliani- despite all their flip flopping- cannot hide their recent liberal stances on everything from abortion to gay rights that they used to win office in Massachusetts and New York. Drafting someone from a state that brings few electoral votes would- given the ongoing state and federal corruption investigations- probably harm- not help- the diminishing chances of a Republican ticket.
Gov. Sara is the best thing that has happened to Alaska in a LONG time! If she ran for President, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat! Sara, YOU ROCK!
