Palin to appear in "Vogue"

DISCLAIMER: This blog has a longstanding policy of refusing to discuss Gov. Palin's looks. This a political post, and any juvenille or non-political comments will be immediately deleted.
----

Gov. Palin has received a lot of media attention this year, but the latest national outlet to notice her is unique in that it is NOT a news source, but rather a fashion magazine. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the governor and her three daughters spent Wednesday morning doing a photo shoot for Vogue Magazine. The pictures will appear in Vogue's February issue, which will actually hit shelves in late January.

As it turned out, however, Palin's independent minded nature made it anything but a typical fashion shoot...as she rejected the clothing that the photographers had intended her to wear. "At first they had me in a bunch of furs," she told the Daily News, "Yeah, I have furs on my wall, but I don't wear furs. I had to show them my bunny boots and my North Face clothing." So, instead of guady furs, we will get to see the real Sarah Palin in her real clothes. Bravo, Governor!

This is definitely a positive development, and it is perfectly timed. The February issue will be hitting stores just as the presidential primaries draw to a close and VP speculation begins in earnest. Appearing in Vogue will also introduce the Governor to many readers who may not be following the 2008 race just yet. I'm also hoping that Vogue was keen enough to ask Gov. Palin about a potential VP candidacy (as other media outlets have). If they did, Sarah Palin will suddenly be staring thousands of American women in the face and forcing them to consider the fact that Hillary Clinton may not be the best woman running for national office when November rolls around.

Sarah Palin is a very strong candidate for VP. She has performed strongly for Alaska in a short period and has shown definite leadership skills. Her integrity over shadows H.C. one thousand times. When the McCain/Palin ticket wins - I look forward to the Palin vs. H.C. race in 2012.

Wall Master, I'm so sorry you didn't get the news flash - OBAMA will be our next president =o) McCain is floundering and his choice of VP CLEARLY demonstrates this. She is inexperienced, a complete unknown, her record is HORRIBLE and her views on the environment are Atrocious!! Seriously, drill in the Alaskan Wildlife Preserve...are you joking?! Exactly who's pocket is she resting in...Big greedy oil filled pockets!!

I just love the hypocrisy of the McCain campaign: Barack Obama, having only been a senator for four years, isn't experienced enough to run the country. Then McCain turns around and (thinking he's being diverse/open-minded, and trying to create his own 'historical' election) pairs up with a woman whose political experience totals less than four years (including...oh wait..NONE in the U.S. Senate).

So thanks, John McCain--it's nice to see that the Democrats are getting help from BOTH parties! ;D

Oh, you mean Uh-O-Bama? I don't think so !! But it's good for a guy to dream !
All you have to do is (of course it's apparent you are not bright enough) read his last name & know what he's up to. At least McCain can say he's a proud American. What kind of person says they are ashamed to be an American? He needs to take his wife & go back to his foreign land that he (& she) love so much.We don't need him here.

I had already decided to vote for John McCain because of his maturity, experience and humanity towards all people regardless of age or race. He may be a republican but I’ll forgive that because he does not toe the party line on important issues such as how to treat illegal immigrants, he knows these people may be wrong but they are human beings who should be treated with dignity and the love of God! He made a wonderful choice in his choice for running mate. Of all 4 of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates she is the only one who’s ever actually ran a state or anything for that matter. The Obama camp says and will continue to say that she has no experience but I imagine most people will agree that even a partial term as governor of a whole state trumps a partial term as a U.S. Senator!!
Great job John McCain! I voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary but with her out you had my vote already and now you just sealed the deal!!! We need the experience that John McCain brings from his military service as well as his years in the U.S. Senate but we also need the experience Governor Paline brings from running an entire state and managing budgets and energy problems in a state so far from the mainland that most other Americans forget it’s there. I am voting for McCain/Paline in 2008!!!! Now we know that at least one of the two major parties isn’t totally sexist! The Democrats talk a good game but they don’t deliver when it counts!! It’s great to be an Independent Voter! Go PUMAs!!

Barack Obama just won the presidency.

VERY foolish move by Sen. McCain. Sen. Obama's presence will enthrall the electorate and Joe Biden's name recognition will stabilize it.

McCain made the same mistake the Democrats did in 1980. He threw away the presidency attempting to gain strategic political leverage with a demographic.

The women vote doesn't win the presidency. The senior vote does.

Congratulations, Obama-Biden.
Call you President and VP in January.

Posters that think Palin will hurt McCain's chances are quite wrong. Her fearless integrity, wholesomeness, and fresh face will appeal to moderate voters. McCain had to choose a woman, a Hispanic, or a very moderate Republican as a running mate. In doing so, he defuses Obama's new generation, change agenda and Democrats are left with a relatively far left candidate with little track record or experience running against a war hero who can point to decades of cross-the-aisle accomplishments.
The election will be close, but now McCain clearly has the edge.

Many of you need to stop making personal attacks against each other. Regardless of who you are supporting for President I have no doubt that your candidates would be embarrassed to know their supporters were bahving in such a shameful and unAmerican way. Let's be grown ups and not bring shame to our candidates as well as ourselves, please.

I don't know anything about Sarah Palin except what I have read today. As brief as her tenure in office has been, at first glance she appears to be a fire brand. I pose the question does a governor have more executive experience than a member of the Congress who spends most of their time merely debating issues.

It didn't take long for the press to start in on Gov. Palins looks and family. If they had done that to Hillary - OMG - what the outcry would have been!

Palin is the kick in the pants the Republicans needed to put this thing over the top!

I always knew McCain had mega kahunas!

You need to stop making personal attacks against each other! It's wrong to assume things about each other and especialy people you've never even met. This is so sad that people use internet so often to bully eachother behind the safety and anonymity of the computer screen. You bring shame to yourself and your candidate when you conduct yourself this way.

As Ms. P. expressed her views, so did I. The only thing is that we are on the internet, but my response would be the same if we were in person. Nice observation, but please save it.

I grow tired of people being prejudice and others who are the goody-goody. I much rather keep things simple and amicable, but yes, I am angered when I see caveman comments like the one posted by Ms. P. and such comments reflect the negativity of this country.

Ak2685: Your comment about Palin not having any experience because she has not been a Senator is sadly misinformed. Regardless of whether or not we've heard of her, she is the Governor of Alaska and before that held several government positions. Most importantly, as Governor, she GOVERNS, which means that she actually has done more than a 1st time Senator that you had not even heard of before 4 years ago. Remember Senators don't govern, so their experience comes from years of working in the halls of the Senate. Oh wait, your Senator has even had the benefit of that. Perhaps we should allow her the opportunity to state her positions before we jump to be the first to knock her down. Shame on you.

And i'll say one more thing... I'll be the guy who'll say what everybody is thinkg but nobody will say because its not politically correct. If a 47 yuear old first senator white guy ran an identical campign and said identical things, he would not be in the position barack is in now. his superstar status is based solely on the fact that he is different. He says change change change change change, but everything he says is the same demcratic platform of the last few decades. there you go. come on and attack me for being racist... but you all know its true.

the trenchant said...

Obama is not half black or half African American he is half Kenyan. Black/African American has the connotation of slave ancestry in America. There isn't an ounce of Black in him....his father was a Kenyan student to the US. Makes Obama the son of an international student, not "Black" - at least not what "Black" means in America.

I love all the desperate posts claiming definitively that the 2-faced,empty-suit, cult-leader Obamarama will be our next president. You know McCain made a perfect VP choice when the level of insecure childish comments from the whiny "Victimcrats" reaches a silly fervor. LOL, awesome.

It is very clear from of these comments just how little people really KNOW about anything they talk about.

Sarah Palin has give FANTASTIC leadership here in Alaska.
Obviously people are educated about drilling in the Wildlife Perseve. The FACTS and what media has said about this are not the truth. There is an area the size of the state of Texas there that is wasting away unused. Drilling the remote unpopulated are will not hurt wildlife because they do not live there. Thsi oil would help Alaska and America!

Sarah is a Strong leader, with great views on the issues and is really a refreshing change of pace!! We are proud to have her for VP.

Speaking as a man this is one woman that I would vote for if she was on the ballot Stepahnie!!!

I don't know what Ms. P posted but it doesn't make you look anymore credible or honorable by addressing her or anyone else the way you do. My mom always said "kill them with kindness" and "you attract more flies with honey than with vinigar". You saying the things you did and the way you did only makes others feel they are justified in saying or believing what they do.
I'm unsubscribing from this email list because I don't need things like what you keep saying ending up in my email address. I have friends who support Obama and they represent him well because they live out the positive out look and attitude of change and you seen to be clinging to that hate speech and judgement that has held this country back so long!

wistful said...

I agree with redwing. I think the reason McCain chose Palin was not so much because she's a woman which is what everyone keeps assuming but because as opposed to the others on the short list she is the only one who is solidly pro-life! That will win them the Christian Vote!

No One in New Orleans Will Die said...

@ redwing,
it's obvious you are an ass for assuming. Although it is not any of your business, I am white. Is there anything else you wish to say or wrongly assume? And if I was Black, so what? If you want to dig into history, please discuss topics other than the obvious. It is no secret that other African cultures enslaved other Africans as did slavery is a derivative of indentured servitude which initially affected whites. Now that we are off that subject, nowhere in your blog are you attempting to diss Ms. P for her comment on sending Obama and his wife back to their foreign land. I guess it was a shock to you that someone reminded you and her that Europe is also a foreign country as well and the majority of original colonialists were not deemed good enough to exist with the genteels of England! Thus, anything you say is biased, irrelevant, and you are not worthy to discuss any issues with me as you appear to be no smarter than the antiquated, coventional image of the stereotypical, hypocritical racist with a second grade education who sleeps with his cousin and screech "white power" on a daily basis. Therefore, before you respond to this blog, let it be known, you appear to be narrow minded in attempting to decipher my race based on the tone and text of what I typed. Furthermore, I rather have someone in the office whom is not past the social security age and can integrate fresh ideas rather than represent fools like you. By the way, there is this new invention called spell check, use it!

Most of these comments are written to insult the other...not all. It's so tit-for-tat. Look at the facts and trust that the people can decide. They just need to do their homework and really get out there and vote. Not wait to see what happens, be unhappy and bioch about it later when it doesn't turn out the way the wanted.

But ain't it great that this kind of banter can happen? It's a great country; rednicks, african americans, little white girls and all.

If anyone can demonstrate a specific executive accomplishment that obama has made, i would love to hear it. He is simply a good speech giver..something an honors 12th grader could do. beyond that, people seem mesmerized by his daily color change...its nice for him to be able to be pandering to the blacks one day the whites the next. Furthermore, he is a carpetbagger, an elitist, and a European suck up. Americans...be careful what you wish for...if you really want to be socialist, be prepared for the real deal.

I adore this choice of the "maverick's" choice for VP.
The only other choice to have solidified a Obama/Biden win would have been the turncoat Joe "Benedict" Leiberman.
Let's all get behind the candidate who is 22 years older than Alaska itself running with a woman who can't even get even behind a rape and incest clause when it comes to abortions and has been Governor for what. all of 25 minutes? Now, I understand that GW Bush lowered the bar, no wait, Karl Rove stole the bar and shoved it up Gore and Kerry's ass. There is no longer any bar when it comes to acceptability for running for President. Thanks George.

No One in New Orleans Will Die said...

Hell, is there anyone who could be worse than Bush? Who wants 4 to 8 more years of Bush politics? Has anyone on here realized that whenever there is a Bush in seat we go to war and there is an oil crisis? We are fighting a war that snatched the promises of many lives, lost the twin towers, stood and suffered in amazement at the high costs of gas, are subjected to the continuing of the antics of the No Child Left Behind act, witnessed the submerging of an entire major fucking United States city--New Orleans, while Bush and his cabinet engaged in laissez faire recreation during Katrina, a collapse of a bridge, and not to mention the illegal immigrants who are on the welfare and foodstamps system to which you and I pay for! I am for Obama, but I don't care if Obama wasn't the democratic nominee, I am not up for anyone who shares an iota of a view with Bush! McCain will carry the stupidity along with the cute eskimo.--Ok the eskimo comment was mean, but is it not odd that McCain criticized Obama for not being experienced, but on the other hand, chose this woman as his VP? Cindy better watch out, but then again, I am sure she bought her husband with all of her heiress money...If I had her money, I would buy Paul Walker!

Do you all really want a president who won't put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem or a president who thinks there are 57 states? Why do you automatically think a muslim will win over a woman VP? Why don't we all just listen to the issues and make an EDUCATED, INTELLIGENT decision. Look past the color of skin and penis vs vagina debates.

Robin Eublind said...

So right now, there are three presidential debates scheduled, two vice presidential debates and one vice presidential swimsuit competition. I feel for Joe Biden, perhaps he could pull it off if say, Mark Foley and Larry Craig were among the judges.

First of all mkwems, it is not protocol to place one's hand over one's heart during the national anthem. That's the pledge you're thinking of. Secondly, Obama does not have a vagina nor is he a muslim. If your post reflects your understanding of the candidates, then an intelligent, informed decision is not an option for you.

You are pissed that there were words I used that were hard for you to decode, huh? Let's put it like this, it is apparent that you are not liking the fact that I have more people responding to my blog than yours and it is also obvious that you must resort to guttural terminology and references that completely deter from the political issues in the first place. If you wish to go there, I suggest maybe yahoo chatroom, maybe in the romance section if you can avoid masturbating on the webcam. Now, honestly, you are an insignificant tumor on the face of anything reflective of character and until you can justify why a presidential candidate would not know how many houses he owns, you can retire back into your trailer, crawl in a corner and play with yourself until your red eyes 'bugg' out of your head as you are shooting blanks. You are another person not worthy of carrying a conversation and therefore, go piss up a flagpole with the 57 states you so claim obama mistaken.

After reading so many comments, I want to say how great I think it is that Sen. McCain did in choosing not only a women as his VP, but someone whose credentials are better than the man running for President of this country. I'm looking forward to the VP debates, Gov. Palin appears to be able to hold her own.

Now, I just finished reading "The Case Against Barrack Obama". You folks really need to get a copy of this book and read it from cover to cover paying close attention to the footnotes at the end of the book. Freddoso has enough legitimate proof to prove what he has written. When you read the book and check the footnotes, you will be surprised at who the legitimate sources are. Don't vote for someone because they can talk a good talk. Make sure you have all the facts needed to make an informed decission BEFORE you vote. Finding out AFTER is too late.

Since a number of you seem to think the Obama's love America, ask yourself why he doesn't put his hand over his heart, that has been filmed by legitimate networks also find a copy of his wife's thesis and read just how much she loves this country.

I hope everyone will make the choice of their conscious, NOT because they didn't do their homework.
