New "Bumper Stickers"

Our "Digital Bumper Stickers" section now has a graphic for you, no matter which GOP candidate you support. In addition to my new "official unofficial" Draft Palin logo, I have added F. Thompson-Palin, Hunter-Palin, Huckabee-Palin, Brownback-Palin, Tancredo-Palin, and Gilmore-Palin logos - plus a Ron Paul-Palin logo contributed by supporter "ivan8r". I will have a McCain-Palin logo up soon to complete the field.

The Media Takes Notice

For as much as bloggers like me have flogged the mainstream media in the past, it is worth noting that they can be very helpful at times. For instance, getting mentioned by a blogger for the Anchorage Daily News can generate a lot of traffic.

This is now (I believe) the third time that a blogger from the Daily News has linked to me, and while I'm not sure if they're taking this idea seriously yet, they are certainly doing a lot to promote it. The Daily News has also noticed that I'm no longer the only one putting forward the idea of Sarah Palin as a Vice Presidential candidate. Hopefully, it will not be too long before coverage like this becomes commonplace...and takes on a more serious tone.

(Note to the Daily News: As for my being "relentlessly optimisitic"...guilty as charged.)

Palin Pics

Some amazing pictures of Gov. Palin have been posted recently on her official website. I thought I would share some of them with you, as I beleive they illustrate how effective she could be on the campaign trail and as a spokeswoman for America. I particularly love the ones of the Governor visiting our troops, I couldn't help but get the eerie feeling that they were beamed back from the future and I was watching Vice-President Palin boosting morale on a trip to Iraq.

Digital Bumper Stickers!

Support the Draft Palin movement on your blog! Above is the new "official unofficial" Draft Palin logo.
I've also approximated the logos of ALL of the current candidates and added Palin's name to create "Digital Bumper Stickers" which allow you to support your favorite candidate and the Draft Palin movement at the same time. Remember, these are not link widgets, so they will not substitute for links.

And special thanks to supporter "ivan8r" for contibuting this last one:

Sarah Barracuda.

I referred in an earlier post that Sarah Palin's tough leadership as Mayor of Wasilla led many to refer to her as "Sarah Barracuda", and it appears that the Governor has now brought that same decisive leadership to the State of Alaska. For instance, yesterday she fired the State Agriculture Board...Yes, you read that correctly; she canned the entire seven member board and replaced them.

The move was spurred by Palin's ongoing fight with the board regarding the proposed closing of the state-owned Matanuska Maid Creamery. Business at "Mat Maid" hasn't been great recently, and the Creamery Board recommended closing up shop on July 1st...leaving many Alaskan diary farmers with no where to sell there milk. Palin instead wanted new leadership on the Creamery Board that would revamp Mat Maid and try to get it back in the black. The State Ag Board (which oversees the Creamery Board) refused to work with Palin on the issue, so she got rid of them...all of them.

Listen, I honestly don't know where I stand on this issue because I personally am a critic of all state-owned businesses (and therefore a little unsure how I'd run one other than to privatize it as quickly as I could), but that's really not what this post is about. The reason I'm mentioning the Mat Maid kerfuffle is that it shows that Sarah Palin has no trouble making the tough and sometimes unpopular decisions involved in being a government executive - yet another reason she needs to be drafted for national office!

As a sidenote: If you thought that such a drastic move would dent Palin's public support, think again. I know that online polls are not the greatest when it comes to accuracy, but this one shows 87% of respondents agreeing with Palin on the issue.

Some Great Palin Blogs

As I am adding more members to "Blogs for Palin", I figured I'd post links to some of the better pieces and discussions that have been written on the idea of a Palin candidacy:

From "Blogs for Palin":

"Palin for VP?" - GenXDad
"Take Palin & Call Me in the Morning" - Outside of the Box
"Sarah Palin: The First Blog-Driven National Campaign" - Campaign2008Victory (This one actually outlines the beginnings of a strategy to get Palin on the GOP ticket)

From the rest of the web:

"Veep Watch: Gov. Sarah Palin Sports 90% Approval Rating" - Race42008
"Veep Palin?" - PostPolitical
"Madam Vice President?" - Save the GOP

If you want to join the budding "Palin movement" (as Steve at Campaign2008Victory has labeled our efforts), we accept Republicans and conservatives of all stripes. So far, we have Palin supporters from the camps of Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Duncan Hunter, and even Ron Paul. While I may personally be a hard-right conservative and a Giuliani supporter, don't be deterred from signing on if you happen to be a moderate or a Jim Gilmore backer.

Coming soon...the Palin for VP graphics that I have been promising you. I have been working on graphic bumper stickers for Giuliani-Palin, McCain-Palin, and Romney-Palin campaigns, with a Thompson-Palin graphic to follow when Fred Thompson officially launches his campaign.

Pickin up Speed

The "Draft Palin" train is picking up steam, and one of the primary reasons that I have not ben blogging as much is that I have been on other sites participating in Palin discussions on other sites...that and not much has been going on in the great white North since the State Legislature session adjourned for the year. I will be updating when possible, and I hope to have some cool "Draft Palin" graphics in the near future (I'm working on putting Sarah's name into mockups of the major GOP candidates' bumper stickers).

For another good discussion, check out Campaign2008Victory over at Townhall. Steve (who runs that site) has embraced the "Draft Palin" concept in a big way and is devoting a weeklong series of columns to why she should be Vice President of the United States. I will post links to other "Draft Palin" conversations in the blogoshphere soon.

If you thought that this site was a joke when I launched a few months ago, you were wrong. I am dead serious about promoting Palin as a VP candidate, and I am not only one doing it anymore.
